Dr. William Boothe’s patients are treated not only by one of the most experienced Lasik surgeon in the nation. He also uses up-to-date Lasik technologies to guarantee the best outcomes for his patients. Dr. Boothe’s main laser and tracking equipment are explained below.

The VISX WaveScan Wavefront System is used to capture and gauge unique imperfections of the patient’s eye. Dr. Boothe uses these measurements to determine refractive errors and irregularities that lead to decreased or fuzzy eyesight. The WaveScan system uses the information it gathers to create a detailed map of each patient’s eye with its unique characteristics.

The IFS Advanced Femtosecond Laser by IntraLase is a new technology that offers less interferences and more accurate results in comparison with utilizing a microkeratome for flap creation in refractive surgery. During a typical Lasik surgery, Dr. William Boothe uses a cool, computer-controlled laser to create a thinner and more precise flap. Thanks to the accuracy of this state-of-the-art technology, it has become possible to lower the risk of complications and hasten recovery.

The VISX Star S4 Excimer Laser is to remodel the cornea. Information about each patient’s eye is transferred from the WaveScan system to the VISX Star S4 laser to guarantee the excimer laser vaporizes specific abnormal portions of the inner tissue of the cornea. The laser has an excellent eye tracking system so that when the laser procedure is performed, even small or rapid involuntary eye movements can be simply tracked and corrected in real-time. The VISX Star S4 IR™ Excimer Laser is considered the most advanced breakthrough among the current FDA approved laser systems.

Dr. Boothe’s great experience and his advanced Lasik equipment, which satisfies all medical requirements, increases the precision of the Lasik surgery, thus decreasing any complications and enhancing patient vision outcomes.

Excimer Laser Photo Refractive Keratectomy, or PRK, is a type of laser eye surgery used to correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. This procedure is mostly intended for those who have thin corneas or any other corneal abnormalities that make them not best suited for Lasik. FDA has approved this technology for the correction of myopia in 1995 and for the treatment of hyperopia in 1998.

The process of performing PRK on both eyes takes only around 5-10 minutes. Before the procedure Dr. Boothe will put some anesthetic drops in your eyes, thus you will not feel any pain or discomfort. During the PRK procedure, a special laser called excimer is used by the surgeon to remove central area of corneal epithelium. The main advantage of PRK over Lasik is that there is no corneal flap made, and that is why there is no risk of flap complications.

After the procedure you will be provided with eye drops and instructed by Dr. Boothe on how to properly use them. You will need them for a month or more, because your eyes may feel dry. Also you will have follow-up appointments after the procedure. The main disadvantage is that the PRK surgery generally has longer recovery time than Lasik and during that time your eyes will be sensitive.

The positive results of Photo Refractive Keratectomy are very high – after a year, 80 percent of nearsighted patients have 20/20 vision. Most others see a significant improvement in their vision. After two or three weeks you will be able to drive a car. Successfully treated PRK patients no longer need glasses or contact lenses.

Nowadays the PRK procedure is less popular than Lasik, and Dr. William Boothe prefers and recommends the Lasik correction because of the faster recovery and the more predictable outcomes after this procedure. The Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center offers a free initial screening if you want to know which procedure is right for you.

Nowadays people with refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism mostly use glasses or contact lenses to correct these eye problems, but today there is a different way to get them to see better, the most advanced and common laser eye surgery, Lasik. To maximize surgical results post-procedure, both patients and surgeons should follow certain protocols.

If you are about to undergo any kind of laser eye correction, it is very important to first find a surgeon with a lot of experience and great qualifications. Remember that your choice directly influences the outcome of your surgery. The results are also highly correlated to the preoperative procedures. For example, at the Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center, which is located in Plano, Texas, your eyes will be examined to confirm the exact refractive errors in your eyes and also a corneal pachymetry will be performed with the help of the latest equipment to determine the thickness of your cornea. All patients should demand such procedures before undergoing a Lasik surgery.

Preparing for Lasik
The first thing you should do it is to stop wearing your contact lenses 2-3 weeks before your laser vision correction, because they change the shape of your cornea. Low-oxygen permeable contact lenses may cause an inflammation of your eyes, and the eyes will need more time to heal after a Lasik procedure. The fact is that a stable shape of the cornea will give you a better success rate of corneal remodelling during the Lasik surgery.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Boothe and his dedicated staff members will gather general information about your vision, lifestyle, history of using glasses and contacts, and your expectations from the Lasik procedure. You have to tell the surgeon about any eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, conjunctivitis; health problems such as diabetes, HIV; and pregnancy. Also you will be asked if you have undergone any other surgeries on your eyes before. If you expect only the best results, prevent complications and achieve the fastest recovery, you should carry out all the instructions above.

For many years, people who suffered from nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism, had used glasses or contact lenses to somehow correct their eyesight. Nowadays, these eye problems can be easily solved by undergoing different laser eye surgeries, and Lasik is the most common of them. This well-known, state-of-the-art and safe procedure have already brought a better quality of life to more than two million people, and they no longer need to wear those bothersome and irritating glasses and contacts. Interestingly enough, the Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center was one of the first centers in the country that started offering the Lasik procedure.

The Lasik procedure is always accompanied by comprehensive testing and consultation. Like any other surgery, however, refractive surgery also has some risks and complications, however the risk factor for serious complications after it is performed is very low – it is less than one percent. Actually, the entire Lasik procedure takes only around 10-15 minutes. If you have already decided to undergo this laser vision correction and want to feel more confident, you should learn more about the procedure itself.

The first and most important step is to choose a right surgeon who will be performing your Lasik procedure. A good doctor will acquaint you with the surgery, pre and post instructions, what to expect in each step of the process, and potential risks and complications. You should look for an experienced and well-skilled eye surgeon. For example, Dr. William Boothe has already performed over 116,800 Lasik surgeries and around 69,900 IntraLasik procedures and is the most experienced Lasik surgeon in Texas.

Before the procedure, you will have a consultation to determine if are you a good candidate for Lasik. During your screening, the general information about your vision will be gathered. Also you should not wear contact lenses 2-3 weeks before the surgery, because they change the shape of your cornea, and thus outcomes may be unpredictable and unsatisfactory.

You should wear comfortably before your appointment. Throughout the Lasik procedure, you will lie on your back while the surgeon will put anesthetic drops in your eyes. You will remain awake and comfortable during the surgery. Your opened eye will be look directly into a laser placed over it. Dr. Boothe will use an accurate laser to cut a flap in your cornea, then use another laser with special tracking program to reshape the cornea, and will complete the procedure by putting back the flap in its place. That’s it – you are all done! The whole process of performing Lasik will take a few minutes and there will not be pain, just a little discomfort.

Many people cannot even imagine their life without glasses or contact lenses. Wearing these instruments, for people who use them daily, is not just a habit. These commonly known devices are used for correcting vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, and thus become a way of the users’ lives. Fortunately, we live in times when it is possible to put away eye glasses and contact lenses forever thanks to the superb Lasik technology. This article introduces you to things you need to do before the surgery.

At first, Dr. Boothe will examine the surface of your eyes with Wavefront mapping system. This device is used to measure the contour of the cornea, to determine the shape of the cornea and to map out the eye. It will help the surgeon to determine the degree of any refractive error and how much cornea tissue has to be removed for the best outcomes. All the information is very valuable for the ophthalmologist in performing the Lasik surgery. Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center offers the latest Wavefront mapping systems such as The VISX WaveScan and Alcon’s LADARWave.

Before the Lasik surgery, Dr. William Boothe suggests you to stop wearing lenses for a while. The reason is that low-oxygen permeable contact lenses worsen the ability of the corneal surface to absorb oxygen adequately and may cause the inflammation of the eye, and thus your eyes will need more time to heal.

The Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center in Plano, Texas, offers only the most advanced technologies and the latest equipment. A professional staff of ophthalmologists offers free screening to determine what type of surgery is suitable to get the best eyesight for you. Dr. William Boothe is one of the busiest surgeons in the United States, having performed over 116,900 Lasik and around 69,900 IntraLasik corrections. For more information visit BootheLaserCenter.com

The only way to forget about contacts and glasses is to undergo a laser eye surgery. The most popular and advanced procedure for laser eye correction today is Lasik, that stands for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis. You can find a lot of ads on the internet, TV, radio and newspapers offering the latest technology, including ones by Dr. Boothe.

The main purpose of the Lasik procedure is to reduce the refractive error of the eye. During the surgery excimer laser carefully reshapes inner layer of the cornea. Lasik is perfectly able to manage such vision issues as hyperopia (farsightedness), myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism.

Another form of laser eye surgery is Excimer Laser Photo Refractive Keratectomy (PRK). Only 5% of the patients undergo this procedure, but in cases when the patient has thin cornea or other eye problems, this procedure is usually more suitable than Lasik. During the PRK surgery, the outer surface of cornea is changed with special ultraviolet beam. Recovery after this procedure can last a week.

When you decide to undergo any kind of laser eye correction, it is very important to find a surgeon with a lot of experience and great qualifications. A good surgeon must also work well with you and listen to all of your concerns. And, of course, the price of surgery should not play the main role in your decision making process.

There are many good laser centers and surgeons in the United States. One of the most called-for Lasik centers with the latest advanced equipment is Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center, which is located in Plano, Texas. In the beginning of the 90’s Dr. Boothe was one of the pioneers in the area to start performing Lasik laser vision correction surgery. Nowadays he and his professional staff of ophthalmologists offer laser eye correction procedures such as Lasik, IntraLasik and PRK. Officially, Board Certified Dr. Boothe is the nation’s most experienced IntraLasik ophthalmologist. He has already performed over 117,000 Lasik surgeries and over 69,500 IntraLasik procedures.

The importance of Lasik for laser vision correction can scarcely be exaggerated. This procedure is one of the most popular eye surgeries done today and considered as the main technological revolution in ophthalmology for the past twenty years. The vast majority of patients who have undergone Lasik are happy to realize that they no longer need to use glasses and contact lenses. This article will acquaint you with some basic information on this outstanding technique.

The word LASIK stands for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis. This means a special laser is used during the procedure to modify the cornea. Surgeons who intend to perform such highly technical surgery require not only professional skills, but also have to meet with the approval of special organizations. The main purpose of a Lasik procedure is to correct refractive defects, such as nearsightedness (myopia), astigmatism and farsightedness (hyperopia). Dr. William Boothe from Plano, Texas, was one of the pioneers in the ophthalmology field who started to perform Lasik technology and received authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the beginning of 1990s. Only specially trained surgeons can perform this procedure.

During the Lasik procedure, surgeons use a special tool called microkeratome to create a precise corneal flap. When it is performed, the surgeon folds the flap to remodel the tissue beneath with an Excimer laser. The flap is then restored to its place with special care and left to heal without stitches. At the Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center, only the latest equipment is used for Lasik procedures, such as Intralase iFS Laser, Alcon LADARVision 4000, Allegretto Wavelight Eye-Q and the VISX STAR S4 laser systems. Dr. Boothe can also test your entire optical system with the newest technology called Wavefront Mapping.

Lasik is one of the highest technical tools used today. This new ophthalmological technology has many advantages. Patients are restored with good vision and minimal discomfort during and after Lasik surgery. Ophthalmologists often prefer to perform Lasik on their patients because side effects and complication possibilities are lower than traditional procedures. Patients themselves also feel safer and more relaxed.
